Cheap Flights From New York (JFK) to Auckland (AKL)
New Zealand has always been a dream destination for many Americans. Now, the country’s airline is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make the trip at a price that’s hard to beat.
The airline is running a limited-time sale on flights from New York to Auckland, with the best deals available on airfares leaving from New York John F Kennedy Intl Airport. Travelers can depart on the route any day of the week, with prices currently starting at $736 one-way for economy class seats and going up to $1,201 round-trip in business class. The offer is valid for travel between 20 September and 26 October. The airline says it’s an ideal time to visit Auckland, which is renowned for its vibrant cultural scene, stunning natural landscapes and spectacular beaches.
There are a few catches to be aware of, though. First, there is a requirement that passengers fly through Sydney. This is due to a restriction on the number of flights that can land at Auckland International Airport without having to land in another city first. The airline also requires passengers to book tickets at least 21 days in advance.
Second, the flight is 17 hours long. This may not be as bad as it sounds for some travelers, but others may find it to be a little long for a single flight. But for Air New Zealand, the 17-hour journey is an opportunity to showcase its ultra-long-haul experience and to get a leg up on other airlines that may be catching up with the airline’s offerings in this category.
The airline has just launched the route, and the first flight took off on Saturday. The airline expects the route to bring in $65 million annually into the country’s economy. While this is a great deal of money, the airline isn’t alone in its pursuit of ultra-long-haul flights. Air Canada and Delta have similar services, and both have recently launched routes between the United States and New Zealand as well. However, Air New Zealand’s offering is arguably the most exciting of all.
